This is one of our most exotic and happening basements! So naturally I wanted it up front.
Be sure to check out the waterfall fireplace in this basement. This was a definite first for me. You'll be able to get a better view in the 3d tours below. The waterfall portion of the fireplace is made of Travertine marble and was easily assembled, however we had the technician from the company come out and install it. If you'd like one of these for your basement, the company is called "Hearthfalls." Go to www.hearthfalls.com for more information.
The wall stripes were made by very careful masking with painters tape. A water based polyurethane was then rolled over every other section to create the effect.
The execution of the bar was the homeowner's idea. Rather than the "normal" granite overhang for stools as is customarily done, he wanted a glass top. The top is anchored to the cabinets with small round posts. What is not visible however, is the extremely cool rope light that runs the perimeter of the cabinets just under the countertop overhang. The effect is particularly good where the light shines through the glass.
The back half of the basement - where the toys are - consists of a mostly beige tile floor with a very thin grout line. The front half is carpet. In the 3D tours you can see how the the two materials meet with the radius curve.
