Question:
How can I tell if there is a bathroom rough-in my basement?

Dave Answers:
You'll see some pipes coming up through the floor. There may also be some venting for the underground in place as well. Sometimes, for a shower rough-in the area for the shower will be a small rectangle/square in the basement floor filled with rocks.

A single 4" drain opening in your basement floor is probably just a floor drain and not any kind of basement bath rough-in.

Below is a picture of a typical bathroom rough-in that I see.

1 = the toilet rough-in
2 = the shower rough-in
3 = vent for the toilet
4 = vent for the shower
